Arepa Waffles for the most part are a pretty new concept, but every now and again I hear someone say their mother or abuela made them an arepa waffle once or twice in the past. Take a Close Look At The Arepa Waffle

Look closely. Can you see all the dips and walls there? This Arepa is all about the texture. That is delicious crunchy cheese and corn amazingness. If you are familiar with Arepas you know that one of the best parts is the crunchy outside, now imagine this 100 times over. Another feature of the Arepa Waffle is how they are split into four sections. You can just break a piece off and save the rest for later! But that does not happen often because they are usually eaten right on the spot. Arepa Waffles are nothing more than cooked in a waffle iron rather than a skillet or an Arepera, but man oh man what a difference. Just keep in mind, if you plan on filling your arepa with other things like plantains or pulled pork – these are not the style you want to make. If that is what you plan on doing, check out the Arepas de Queso recipe. You won’t be able to slice this one open and put stuff inside, what you do here is enjoy the new texture this Arepa has to offer.

That is the beauty of the Arepa. It is such a versatile food. But most importantly, it is Gluten-free – which is very important for a large portion of the population. Not only can you do Arepa Waffles, but you can also use Arepas in other innovative ways like Arepa Pizza, Arepa Sticks, Hawaiian Arepas, like Hawaiian Pizza and so many other ways!
